"Experience Excellence at UTokyo - A Student & Alumni Discussion from UTokyo New York Office " was held at the UTokyoNY Office in a hybrid-format for overseas students and their families interested in the University of Tokyo similar to the event last year.
In the first part of the program, which was streamed lived worldwide from the UTokyo Office, Vice President Yujin Yaguchi, (Deputy Director, Division for Global Campus Initiatives), gave an overview of the university, which was followed by a panel discussion among UTokyo graduates based in the US, Ms. Hiroko YAMAMOTO (Faculty of Law, 2015), Dr. Yulong YANG(Faculty of Medicine, 2013), Ms. Chloe Yuchen YAN (College of Arts and Sciences, PEAK, 2018), and Mr. Marco LEPE, who is an alumnus of UTokyo GUC and currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at UTokyo.
In the second part, online individual sessions were offered by faculty and staff of the PEAK Undergraduate Admissions Office, Graduate School/Faculty of Engineering, Graduate School/Faculty of Science, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Graduate School of Public Policy and the International Exchange Group. Additionally, Friends of UTokyo, Inc., provided an information session about its FUTI Scholarship.
Those who attended the event in person at the UTokyoNY Office were able to interact with the UTokyo faculty and graduates after the first part, including asking various questions. The online individual sessions served as a good opportunity for students from all over the world to gain information about the admission systems of each graduate school as well as the English-medium programs of the university directly from UTokyo faculty and staff.
The university hopes to have similar events in the UTokyo NY Office in the future to continue promoting the value of studying at the University of Tokyo.
