The Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST) held the exhibition “The Potential of Urban Science: Where Urban Science and Technology Are Now” and the symposium “Urban Science Opens the Door to Sustainable Urban Development: Balancing Economy and Well-Being” in March.
The exhibition, which ran from March 1 to March 13 , at the Gallery Le Deco in Shibuya, questioned how big data, data analysis, and even artificial intelligence (AI) in cities can be used for urban analysis, urban design, and architectural design.
In this age of the Web, we especially value experiences through "objects", the sense of touch, and spatial experience.
The symposium, which was held on March 30, discussed the question "What is a sustainable city?" regarding the value of parks, green spaces, and other green values in terms of indicators such as economy and wellbeing.
In particular, how to utilize big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of citizens' lives, and how to quantify people's state of mind etc. were discussed.
